Teddy Bear Picnic--What I Saw!

As I've already mentioned, there was an exciting Chili Cook Off on the day of the Springsational Parade in Henderson. Yes, while I was waiting for the parade to start, many of my library friends were making some of the best chili around. I can say that because, although I don't eat chili (I like unleaded gasoline, remember?), all of the people I know say it's great. So, I wanted you to see some of my library friends as they got ready to win!!!
This is us (me, of course, with SusieQ on the left and Ms. Mary in the driver's seat), waiting for the parade to start.
This is us, practicing for when the parade really starts.

Here we come!

And there we go!
Oh my gosh! I'm so excited, the parade was so much fun! I was so proud to represent the Henderson Libraries because everyone LOVES us. The crowds were cheering, waving and yelling encouraging comments like "the library is awesome" "we love to read" "Yeah! read books" and "We have the BEST library!" Mary did such a great job driving and thanks to Kathy's advice we didn't have any problems. Do you believe that when we got back someone was parked in MY spot?! We had to wait 20 minutes before I could get settled and compose myself enough to get this message out to all of you. I hope most of you saw us at the parade, I'm really impressive in person. Please come and visit me real soon so you can see what I look like on the inside. My schedule is on the Library Website
Until then...
Rollin rollin rollin,
MEL
P.S. To top off the day Henderson Libraries won the Chili cookoff!
Let me tell you what I overheard the Outreach Team talking about this morning.
They were saying that I'm going to be in a big parade this Saturday morning! They were reading aloud the instructions about where I'm supposed to be and what time I'm supposed to be there. This is part of what I heard:
"Attention Horse Entries: Twenty-four hours prior to the parade, please keep your horses off hay or green pasture in consideration of the marching groups. All horse entries will line up on the west side of Ocean Avenue. Each entry must provide one clean-up crew member who is responsible for marching behind the horse(s) for immediate clean-up if necessary."
Hmmm, I wonder why they were so glad that horses aren't supposed to eat whatever they want to before the parade?
Also, I heard that the Henderson Libraries are in the Chili Cookoff again this year, and that we usually win because ours is the best!
Watch for me in the parade!!!
