Here's more about NNO, taken from the Henderson Police website:

On Tuesday, August 7th, neighborhoods throughout Henderson are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the "24th Annual National Night Out" crime/drug prevention event. National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the City of Henderson, will involve more than 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. In all, more than 34 million people are expected to participate in "America's Night Out Against Crime" on August 7th.

The City of Henderson's National Night Out block party will be in the south parking lot of the Galleria at Sunset on August 7th from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. More than 40 non-profit groups and home security-related venders will have booths at the block party. America's Night Out Against Crime is a great opportunity to come out meet your neighbors and talk with City of Henderson officials and Henderson Police officers. The block party will feature live music, free hotdogs and drinks and free activities for the kids along with learning how to prevent crime.

National Night Out is designed to:

Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
Generate support and participation in local anti-crime efforts
Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community relations
Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back

On August 7th neighbors across the nation will turn on their porch light and spend the evening talking with their neighbors sending a clear message that we will not stand for crime in our neighborhoods. The Henderson Police Department encourages all residents to take part in National Night Out to help build neighborhood unity and strengthen police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer America.
